National Reconciliation Week 2020 - In this together

National Reconciliation Week, from 27th May to 3rd June, begins with the anniversary of the 1967 referendum and ends with the High Court Mabo decision. In 2020, the theme is ‘in this together’ and in light of he circumstances around COVID-19 and the increased attention around the plight of Aboriginal deaths in custody and the #Blacklivesmatter movement, it rings particularly true.

Although Reconciliation week has moved online, there are ways that you can still get involved. You can keep your finger on the pulse with the online May 2020 edition of Reconciliation News. The issue marks the 20th anniversary of the 2000 Bridge Walks for Reconciliation and features a personal piece by Hon Linda Burney about the history of the walks. You can also check ‘In My Blood it Runs’ online, a film about 10 year old Dujuan who is a child-healer and the struggles he experiences.

You can also engage with Reconciliation Week through social media and share the Uluru Statement from the Heart.
