Glebe walks keep Glebe connected

Glebe Walks was a simple program which was a response of increased concerns over isolation and community disconnection heightened by COVID-19 lockdowns. The walks involved two familiar faces walking different streets in Glebe at around the same time each week. The walkers strolled by and stopped to have a chat with anyone already outside their home. It didn’t involve door knocking or entering people's front yards,  just a chat outside, while social distancing.

The purpose was to keep us connected. People could also use the opportunity to share ideas or concerns for the community, get information about services or simply just have a yarn.

Glebe Walkers were made up of Glebe Connected local community workers and Glebe residents. They involved local community workers come from services including Glebe TreeHouse, Glebe Community Development Project, Glebe Assistance Parternship Program (GAPP) and Glebe Youth Service.

The program was in operation from April - July 2020. It is currently on hold due to the easing of restrictions and less people being stuck at home.
